Finding an effective makeup remover is important, especially if you wear dark eye makeup. After trying at least a dozen different brands, I’ve gone back to Clinique’s Take the Day Off Makeup Remover, even though it’s way too expensive, because it’s the best remover I’ve found on the market… till now. Clinique’s eye makeup remover runs about $5 per ounce, but this DIY recipe costs about 21¢ per ounce!
First, if you wear eye makeup and don’t use makeup remover (not just soap and water), it might be time to start. Not taking your makeup properly can actually cause eye irritation, puffiness, lash damage, clogged pores, discoloration, itchiness, eye infections and wrinkles.
As I work towards eating cleaner and using more non-chemical, clean products all around, I’m paying more attention to beauty products too. Not only was I paying too much for the Clinique makeup remover, but it also had quite a lot of chemicals that I didn’t recognize, which gave me reason for pause.
